South Bend Police Investigative Bureau is investigating a shooting that occurred in the 1800 block of W. Ewing around 2:00 Wednesday morning.
Initially, patrol officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of W. Ewing on reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, they found a home with damage.
While on scene, officers were notified about a walk-in shooting victim at the hospital. When officers arrived, they met with a 27-year-old female with a wound to the chest. The injury is described as non life threatening.
Through initial investigation, officers learned the victim was at home when a known male arrived and started knocking on the door. The victim wouldn’t let him in and for unknown reasons shots were fired. The female was struck during this.
The suspect is described as a “black male with a skinny build”.
