SOUTH BEND GROUP VIOLENCE INTERVENTION TO HOLD PRESS CONFERENCE THURSDAY 10-27-16

Representatives of the South Bend Group Violence Intervention will discuss the initiative’s Wednesday night “call in” at a press conference at 10:30 am on Thursday, October 27th at the Charles Martin Youth Center, located at 802 Lincoln Way West.

Members from several South Bend-area groups met Wednesday night to call for violence in our community to stop. The South Bend Group Violence Intervention, which formed in 2014, is a partnership among 30 community leaders from law enforcement, government, education, civil service, health care, and faith-based agencies advocating direct, sustained engagement with street groups that cause the majority of gun violence. The strategy establishes clear moral standards against violence and coordinates the crime-prevention efforts of law enforcement agencies to focus on the groups most associated with gun violence.

Representatives appearing at the press conference will be:
• South Bend Police Chief Scott Ruzskowski
• Ken Cotter, Prosecutor, St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office
• Isaac Hunt, Goodwill Industries
• Judge Andre Gammage
• Sergeant Kyle Dombrowski, South Bend Police Department
• Other representatives TBA
