The South Bend Police Department reminds the community to be safe when making online purchase. Department detectives are currently investigating at least three armed robberies over the last three weeks involving online transactions.
In these cases, the victims arranged a sales transaction through Facebook’s online market. The suspect(s) asked to meet the victims in the area of Ewing and Walnut where the victim was then robbed at gunpoint.
South Bend police remind the public to increase their awareness when making online purchases. Avoid meeting in unpopulated areas like parks, empty parking lots or unfamiliar locations.
The South Bend Police Department has a designated area for these kinds of purchases right in front of the building.
We are asking anyone with information about this crime or any criminal activity to contact CRIMESTOPPERS at 288-STOP or the South Bend Police Department at 574-235-9201.
